Pima County Wildfire Mitigation Program

Wildfire risks in Pima County grow every year due to drought, a changing climate, and the spread of invasive species. While fire plays an important regenerative role in many ecosystems, it can threaten the short- and long-term health of our communities if left unmanaged.

Guided by the Pima County Wildfire Mitigation Plan, we help organizations and individuals maintain defensible space around homes and infrastructure to improve responder safety and reduce risks to life and property. This program represents a vital collaboration between the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, Pima County, the University of Arizona, local fire departments, and non-profit partners.
